Volunteering

We are currently recruiting Buddy Scheme Volunteers for the Spring term! Joining the Buddy Scheme as a volunteer can allow you to gain transferable skills for future employment, offers you the opportunity to make new friends from all walks of life and be a part of something that celebrates diversity in an informal, fun and sociable way.

As a Buddy Volunteer, you will be matched with students (from 1-5) who are new to Sussex and you will provide peer support for your assigned buddies and help them settle into life at Sussex using your experience and knowledge of University life and the local area. Please click here for the full role description and more information.

We run a whole programme of exclusive events for members of the Buddy Scheme from dog walks, Sunday Roasts, to Beach Volleyball and Silent Discos (and much more!), there are so many reasons to get involved with the Buddy Scheme.

Buddy Scheme Volunteers are expected to commit to at least one hour a week to each buddy. This can be through messaging online or meeting up in person. Volunteers MUST contact their buddy and make themselves available to them. If there are any issues or the time commitment becomes too much, you must let the Buddy Scheme staff know and new matches can be made.

If you are interested in signing up as a volunteer please apply here!

If you have any questions about becoming a Buddy Volunteer please send us an email at buddyscheme@sussexstudent.com
