Join the Buddy Scheme

The Sussex Buddy Scheme helps Sussex students to connect with other students.

The Buddy Scheme is an informal peer to peer support scheme consisting of Buddy Scheme Members and Buddy Scheme Volunteers, run by the Students’ Union to help students settle into life and make the most of life at university and in Brighton.

Buddy Scheme Members are new students at the University of Sussex or those currently at Sussex who may be isolated, who have signed up to be matched with a Buddy Scheme Volunteer for help, support and to make new friends.

Buddy Scheme Volunteers are current students who have volunteered to be paired with a new student. You will be expected to make email contact with your Buddy Scheme Member as soon as you have been matched and to meet or communicate with them on a regular basis to provide peer support and help them settle into life at University.

Applications are closed for the academic year 2023/24.

Matching will begin following A Level Results Day on Thursday 15th August 2024, but you can apply to get involved as volunteer from April 2024!
