The Buddy Scheme is coming back bigger and better this academic year with a new and exciting virtual events programme and, most importantly, new students.
The countdown to matching Buddies has now begun! On Thursday 13th August A Level Results will be released and we began matching Buddies at 9am, so if you have already signed up, keep an eye on your inbox for an email to let you know who your Buddy is! We have been glad to see so many like-minded students on the scheme so far. We’ve also noticed plenty of international and postgraduate students signing up, and luckily have put together a collection of virtual events which means you’ll be able to make the most of your time at Sussex from wherever you are across the globe.
We know that over the next few days, you’ll be in contact with your buddies for the first time. The best way to do this is to chat over social media for a while or by email. If you’re in need of icebreakers to get conversation going, then go with something such as a subject of study or interests. These are great for finding common ground. Additionally, discuss why you’ve both become part of the Buddy Scheme and ask each other all your questions about university life.
The next few weeks will be busy with getting everything ready for your student life, ensuring that you’re up to date with your studies and that you know where to go and what to do once you start at University.
