Being a part of the Buddy Scheme, either as volunteer or new student, gives you the opportunity to explore Brighton and it’s surrounding from a different and fresh perspective.

What better way to take a break from the academic world at University than with a little bit of something new. To get the blood flowing back to the brain cells we have partnered up with Active US to bring you some fun and active events that don’t require you to break a sweat but still kinda let you say you’ve done some sport. Active US sessions are a stress-free zone, so it’s the perfect way to chill out.

Individual Tight Rope walking at Bouldering

Last Sunday (8th October) we had our first successful event of Bouldering at Boulder Brighton. We had a great laugh trying to walk across the tightrope, whilst others fought their fear of  heights and climbed all the way to the top. Thanks to the lovely Activators Finn and Paddy even those who were beginners and didn’t have a clue, were quick to scale the walls. The Active US Boulder Sessions run every Sunday and you can find out more here.

This is just one of our four events we’re offering you this term in collaboration with Active US. The other three are Globalls, Yoga and Ice Skating:

-On Friday the 20th October we are heading to Globall’s in Brighton Marina which is Brighton’s own indoor ultraviolet mini golf course. It is based on a Jurassic theme with neon glowing dinosaurs joining you around the course. To find out more click here.

-If however you’re looking for something a little more calm, are trying to find your inner Zen or just want to catch your breath I would recommend signing up to the free Yoga Session on the 10th November. Find out more here.

-With logical progression we are then close to entering the Christmas Season and feelings of a Winter Wonderland. So grab a ticket to go to the magical ice skating ring that is set up in front of the Royal Pavilion. If you’re an experienced skater or have never stood on skates before, take this opportunity to leave your worries in the wind for a couple of hours as you skate in beautiful illumination or resemble Bambi on ice. These are heavily subsidized costing only £1 instead of £10, so grab your tickets soon. Find out more here.

If now you’re thinking of maybe trying something new, or want to try a non-committal sport have a look at the Active US timetable below. With Active US it doesn’t matter what experience level you’re at, the sessions are designed for anyone with any type of capabilities. It is a No Membership, No Tryouts, No Fuss kind of thing. Have a look at some of their events on their Facebook Page.
