Each academic year the Buddy Scheme team up current students with arriving students, helping to welcome them to Sussex and ease the transition to student life. As the end of this academic year is nearing, we are closing the applications to become a Buddy Volunteer for 2016/2017 on March 27th – to re-open applications on the 3rd of April for next academic year!

If you have been a part of the Buddy Scheme, either as a Buddy Volunteer or New Student, then we would like to thank you for being part of what has been a fantastic year. This year we have matched 1019 New Students with 383 Buddy Volunteers, and put on events throughout the academic year ranging from vintage tea parties, a trip to the Harry Potter Studios and Bouldering.

As we’re closing the applications for the Buddy Scheme 2016/2017, we hope to see just as many students partake in the Buddy Scheme next year. We would love to welcome you into our team of Volunteers and Buddies, so make sure to apply! Buddies are New Students looking to meet a current student to help welcome them to Sussex, and Buddy Volunteers are current students who make a huge difference to the lives of new students by functioning as a first point of contact and working to welcome them to Sussex.

Make sure to apply to become a part of the Buddy Scheme for the next academic year, once applications open on the 3rd of April. Matching Buddies and Buddy Volunteers will start in August, so keep an eye out for your emails in time before the start of the new term. If you have any questions do not hesitate to get in contact with the Buddy Scheme, we are located in the Activities Office on the first floor of Falmer House, and would love to talk through how you can get involved and make a difference in the Buddy Scheme.
